वैसाखी जिसे बैसाख के नाम से भी जाना जाता है, सिख धर्म में एक ऐतिहासिक और धार्मिक त्योहार है । यह आमतौर पर हर साल 13 या 14 अप्रैल को मनाया जाता है जो 1699 में गुरु गोविंद सिंह के अधीन योद्धाओं के खालसा पंथ के गठन की स्मृति में था।
बैसाखी नाम वैशाख से बना है। पंजाब और हरियाणा के किसान सर्दियों की फसल काट लेने के बाद नए साल की खुशियाँ मनाते हैं। इसीलिए बैसाखी पंजाब और आसपास के प्रदेशों का सबसे बड़ा त्योहार है। यह रबी की फसल के पकने की खुशी का प्रतीक है।
सिख इस त्योहार को सामूहिक जन्मदिवस के रूप में मनाते हैं। यह त्योहार सिख और हिन्दुओं दोनों के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के अन्य क्षेत्रों में जैसे पोहेला बोशाख, बोहाग बिहू, विशु, पुथंडु और अन्य क्षेत्रों में वैशाख के दिन मनाए जाते हैं।
वैसाखी सिख धर्म और पंजाब क्षेत्र में होने वाले भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के इतिहास की प्रमुख घटनाओं का अवलोकन करती है ।

कहा जाता है कि सन 1699 मे इसी दिन सिक्खो के अंतिम गुरु, गुरु गोबिन्द सिह जी ने सिक्खो को खालसा के रूप मे संगठित किया था, तो यह भी इस दिन को खास बनाने का एक कारण है
सिख धर्म को चिह्नित करने वाले एक प्रमुख सिख त्योहार के रूप में वैसाखी का महत्व है । मुगल सम्राट औरंगजेब के आदेश के तहत इस्लाम में बदलने से इनकार करने के बाद गुरु तेग बहादुर के उत्पीड़न और शहीद हो जाने के बाद शुरू हुआ।
वैसाखी ने सिखों के दसवें गुरु के राज्याभिषेक और खालसा के ऐतिहासिक गठन, दोनों को वैशाखी के दिन शुरू हुआ ।
रणजीत सिंह को 12 अप्रैल 1801 (वैसाखी के साथ मेल खाना) में सिख साम्राज्य के महाराजा के रूप में घोषित किया गया था। गुरु नानक देव के वंशज साहिब सिंह बेदी ने राज्याभिषेक किया। वैसाखी वह दिन था जब ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य के अधिकारियों ने एक सभा पर जलियांवाला बाग हत्याकांड को अंजाम दिया था ।

वैसाखी पर गुरुद्वारों को सजाया जाता है और स्थानीय गुरुद्वारों, सामुदायिक मेलों और नगर कीर्तन के जुलूसों में जाने से पहले सिखों का दौरा किया जाता है और झीलों या नदियों में स्नान किया जाता है ।
बैसाखी का पर्व किसानो का प्रमुख त्योहार होता है, किसान इस दिन अपनी अच्छी फसल के लिए भगवान को धन्यवाद देते है.
वैसाखी पंजाब क्षेत्र के लोगों के लिए एक फसल उत्सव है। पंजाब में वैसाखी में रबी की फसल पकने का निशान है। वैसाखी भी पंजाबी नए साल का प्रतीक है। यह दिन किसानों द्वारा धन्यवाद दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है । किसान भगवान को भरपूर फसल के लिए धन्यवाद देते हैं और भविष्य की समृद्धि के लिए प्रार्थना भी करते हैं ।
